Turret Masterpiece

Project Overview

This beautiful old home was in need of a major facelift, and the owners entrusted the task to the team at Old Port Roofing. The project involved removing the ageing painted galvanised iron from the roof and replacing it with new BlueScope Colorbond, including the bullnose verandah. The turret also required full replacement with custom-made cladding to restore it to a brand-new finish.

All old materials were removed promptly from the site. Before the new roofing was installed, the team laid an insulation blanket rated R1.3 to improve climate and noise insulation. A new custom-made Colorbond box gutter was fabricated to solve previous water ingress issues caused by the deteriorated original gutter.

New BlueScope Woodland Grey Colorbond .42BMT roof sheets were then installed, along with heritage-style roll-top ridge caps, valley gutters, and square tail barge caps, all crafted from .55BMT material for added durability. The bullnose verandah was rebuilt using .6BMT Colorbond, custom curved to match the original frame, and finished with Acra lead hips for a polished look.

A scaffold was erected to access and replace the turret roofing. Each section was custom-made and cut in-house at the Old Port Roofing warehouse to achieve the correct heritage appearance. Acra lead hips were again used to complete the turret’s finish.
