Recently a new customer to Old Port Roofing asked if we were able to remove asbestos shingles from his home and replace with iron roofing. As we are fully compliant and registered as qualified asbestos removalist we were able to supply a quote for both removal of the old roof and installation of new.
The asbestos removal process involves reporting with Safework SA, Waste Tracking to an approved holder, arranging Air monitors and notifications to neighbours of the property a week prior to us commencing on site.
Once on site, all qualified members of the team were suited up in asbestos protective suits and removed materials according to regulations. Our approved Waste Removalist transported all wrapped asbestos to the approved receiver, who in turn advises Safework, correlating with our information already supplied.
To protect the home, this process was done in stages.. so a section of asbestos removed and new roof installed prior to the next section commencing. At each section, the Air monitors and inspectors assessed the completed area to ensure there were no fibres left settled or airborne.
This particular roof and gutters were done in Paperbark colour bond. Our team kept the same structure of the roof and its existing bell type pitch. (two pitches on the same roof). Once the new iron was installed, ridge capping was scribed in by our top tradesman and part owner Josh Darlington.
At the end of the job we had another very satisfied customer with the transformation that the team created for them.
